1. Who are you???
I am Maureen and I have a Bachelor's of Arts in Language Studies (Linguistics). I went to UCSD after graduating from high school in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. I am currently working on pre-requisites in Communication Disorders and Sciences at California State University, Northridge. I am applying to enter a Master's Program for Fall 2011.
2. What's the purpose of this blog?
The purpose of this blog is to share what I'm learning (a ton) and to gain your support. Support to me means reading, commenting, and sending me positive vibes/prayers/good energy.
3. Where do you go to school?
California State University, Northridge. California's state budget is going downhill, especially for education! Tuition keeps going up.
4. Why do you want to be a Speech Therapist?
My passion has always been to help people. Also, the brain has always fascinated me and language & communication have always been my favorite school subjects. I tried other jobs out: event planning, luxury hotel concierge-ing, human resources-ing(?!) and they all came close to combining all of my interests, but nothing has challenged and inspired me as much as working with children with developmental delays. I am currently an interventionist and cannot wait to complete my Master's so that I can assist as many clients as possible as an SLP.
5. Where do you want to go to grad school?
Preferably in the Los Angeles area but I am open to any and all programs that will accept me!
